Havelock Place, Hastings Town Centre Ready To Occupy

Havelock Place – a 24,192 sq ft contemporary office building – has now been fully completed and is ready to occupy in Hastings’ Priory Quarter town centre business district.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, visited the building on 29 August when it was in late stages of construction. He handed the keys to the first company to let offices there, Medica Group, whose expanding radiology business had recently taken on an additional 12 staff, has since fitted out and moved into the fifth floor.

The rest of Havelock Place is now available to occupy with offices ranging from a 1,353 sq ft unit up to the total remaining 20,372 sq ft on the ground, first, second, third and fourth floors.

The two ground floor units (1,353 and 1,483 sq ft) are also available for retail use. They front Havelock Road, the main pedestrian route between Hastings’ rail and bus terminal and the seafront, the pedestrianised shopping/café area and Hastings Old Town.

Havelock Place has been developed by Sea Change Sussex as part of the economic development programme for East Sussex, aiming to attract companies and generate local jobs. The new building can accommodate up to 350 employees and is suitable for local expanding businesses or companies from outside the area.

Havelock Place’s features include:

• full air-conditioning
• full access raised floors
• suspended ceilings with recessed lighting
• showers on the ground and first floors
• two 8-person lifts
• high quality entrance hall
• full DDA-compliance

The new offices stand in Hastings’ Priory Quarter business and education district near the other town centre developments recently delivered as part of the regeneration programme. These include the 45,000 sq ft One Priory Square offices – now home to Saga Insurance – Hastings’ three university buildings and the Creative Media Centre.

Priory Quarter is two minutes’ walk from Sussex Coast College, Hastings’ main rail and bus terminal and two large public car parks.

Chancellor George Osborne, when he visited in August, said: “I’ve seen first-hand the regeneration taking place in Hastings and the positive effect it’s having on the local economy. Government support has boosted projects like Havelock Place, providing much-needed finance to get important developments going.

“The Government’s long-term economic plan is to back business and support local economies, which are vital for providing jobs and security for hard-working people. What I’ve seen shows this plan is working and highlights East Sussex as a great coastal business location.”
